WHERE + WHEN

January 2021 (school holidays)

Located at a private property, Kenilworth QLD

Bring the kids out to the country for a day of nature immersion; learning innate and traditional human skills, connecting to the environment around you + with each other and eating clean + delicious food.

This 1-day event is for families wanting to experience and benefit from more quality time outdoors and with each other.

The activities and the environment may spark excitement, creativity, imagination and enthusiasm in you and your kids!

Whether you and your children simply don't get enough nature time each week and you're seeking more,

or you're outdoors often and want to learn new skills, meet new people and experience something truly unique... this event is for you!

POSSIBLE PROGRAM + ACTIVITIES

WELCOME + MORNING TEA

9am

We officially welcome our guests and acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, then we'll all enjoy a mug of freshly brewed campfire billy bushtucker tea and some healthy snacks as we get to know each other and get excited about the fun ahead!

This is also time for a quick tour of the grounds then we help you set up your camp gear.

EARTH AWARENESS + CONNECTION TALK - WITH CLINT

10am

Clint will take you through a special Earth Awareness + Connection talk that you will be able to practice during your stay and when you've left.

Being introduced to ancestral primitive methods, at any age, should come with an understanding, appreciation and care for the earth and environment in which the practices take place. This deeper understanding for nature can help initiate small but positive changes for earth and ourselves.

SPEAR MAKING WORKSHOP - WITH CLINT

10:20am

A Spear Making Workshop for the kids; taking them through every step of creating a spear using natural materials, then they'll practice using their spears with a target. He'll also teach them how to move like a hunter stalking their prey!

Included will be all materials, safety and care conversations, and a spear to take home to use. This is an introduction to safe hunting methods and awareness - no killing of animals will take place.

BUSHTUCKER GATHERING + COOKING WORKSHOP - WITH AIMEE

10:20am

Aimee will take the adults on a walk around the property to identify and gather bushfoods to then use in a hands-on cooking class making a healthy and yummy lunch for the tribe.  You'll not only learn about a variety of native plants you can grow at home but how to use them in the kitchen, as well as how to use regular ingredients to easily create nutritious and delicious meals for the whole family.

This is optional as parents may want to watch/attend the spear making workshop.

LUNCH TIME AROUND THE FIRE

12pm

Everyone can relax around the fire pit and enjoy a feast for lunch with coffee and billy tea available!

Around the fire is often where the real magic happens... meaningful conversation and connection.

ECO-CRAFTS WORKSHOP - WITH AIMEE

1:00pm

Gather under the shade of the tall old trees and enjoy some nature craft activities, with Aimee providing a variety of craft options for everyone to choose from. Create a beautiful piece of jewellery, a palm frond treasure pouch, leaf crowns, natural cordage, or a coil weave basket.

You'll also learn how to make traditional super-strong 'bush glue' using just 3 ingredients nature provides.

All materials will be provided. We'll be utilising what we can find around us and recycled items as well.

FIRE-MAKING WORKSHOP - WITH CLINT

1:00pm

For those preferring to learn the skill of fire-making instead of participating in eco-craft, this session with Clint is available.

Learn how to use flint and steel with natural materials to ignite, and even have a go at one of the most ancient forms of making fire... a bow drill set! You'll find out how to source the materials needed and create a functional set.

AFTERNOON TEA

3:00pm

When all the learning and creating is finished we can sit back, relax with a cuppa and a snack, chat about the events of the day and whatever else comes to mind.

NATURE CONNECTION MEDITATION

3:30pm

To end the day, take a seat by the creek or in the shade of the trees and let Aimee guide you through a unique meditation combining "Shin-rin Yoku" (Japanese Forest Bathing) techniques with her own ideas for a relaxing and revitalizing experience.

This method is designed to be practiced in any full or semi-natural setting and doesn't need to take very long at all, so it's perfect for busy urban dwellers!

FAREWELL

4:00pm

We'll officially conclude the event before the sad but inevitable farewells.
